THE 2012 NIGHT CHALLENGE RESULTS:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
THE 2012 MONTROSE NIGHT CHALLENGE.
Welcome to the 9th year of this prestigious event. Montrose has coordinated this event over the past 9 years. The tournament continues to be the biggest inter-primary school night tournament of its type in South Africa. We have in 2012, twelve cricket teams and twenty netball teams competing for gold and title of CHAMPIONS!!
Congratulations to Montrose for winning both the U11 and U13 netball categories in 2011 and to Bryanston Primary for winning the cricket.
The staff of our wonderful school has spent many hours planning and organizing the event and a series of this nature would not be possible without the support of the school and sponsorship from businesses, families and friends. Please have a look through our tournament brochure and see which companies are investing in your child’s future and giving him/her a wonderful opportunity such as this.
The main focus for the next seven weeks is the players and the exciting cricket and netball that will be taking place. This is indeed a fantastic opportunity for all involved. The night cricket and netball is an enriching experience, giving the players involved the opportunity to play under lights and in different conditions. They will learn a great deal by playing at night and I trust that they will forge new friendships and take something away that will stand them in good stead for the future.
One of the most important aspects of this tournament is for the players to remember that they are representing their school, their families and most importantly themselves. Another key principle of a team sport is that no one is more important than the team. In order to do well the team will have to form a unit and play for each other.
My sincere thanks to the staff, parents, schools and sponsors for making this great event possible. A special word of thanks to Cricket South Africa and the Gauteng Cricket Board for your constant support and advice over the years and for putting your stamp on this event. To all the supporters over the weeks, shout loudly, but always remember, please, to encourage and let the children enjoy the experience. To all the players, have an amazing seven weeks. Play hard, but most importantly have fun.
Always remember – “Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character” – Alan Armstrong
I am looking forward to a wonderful series.
Yours in Sport
